We at CareerFYI read this book and were so inspired that we just had to interview the author. The authors interviewed 23 liberal arts graduates well into their careers to discover the paths they took, and the smart moves they made, to build exciting, fulfilling, rewarding and successful careers. The stories are inspiring for any age group, but especially so for those in their 20's and 30's. "A" is for Attitude!

Continuing our series with renowned career coach and author Joe Murphy, in this segment we will be discussing "A", or Attitude, which is the fourth segment in his IMPACT career series.

In order to stand out from the crowd, and land the job your really want, you need to put forth a positive attitude. Joe gives us a number of ways to achieve and maintain this state of mind, but primarily suggests that you develop 6 CAR stories. CAR is an acronym and stands for Characteristics, Actions, and Results. In other words, pulling 6 stories from your past experiences that demonstrate a CAR. Each CAR story should be different and should highlight a different aspect of your strengths - creativity, analytical skills, teamwork, leadership, etc. Having these CAR stories will help you build and maintain confidence as you go through the interview process and will properly highlight these strengths to potential employers.
